Roku offers a new way to stream TV and it’s way cheaper than you’d expect
Don’t want a giant TV taking up space in your home? Roku may have the perfect solution. The popular telly company has just added more ways to binge on boxsets with the launch of two new projectors. These were released back in May and offer a hassle-free way to get a cinema-style experience without splashing out on a giant TV. In fact, Roku projectors can beam an image up to 150 inches onto any surface.
The duo of projects from both Aurzen and Sharp are now on sale but one has just had a massive price cut which makes it far more affordable. At launch, the Aurzen Roku TV Smart Projector cost £199.99, but it’s now cut to just £129.99 at Amazon.
For that price, you get a full HD-ready device that comes fully loaded with streaming apps such as Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Disney+ and Apple TV.
The Roku channel service is also included, which offers a wide range of content to view without paying a penny extra.
There are also different brightness levels, along with built-in Dolby Atmos-powered speakers. Other extras include smart auto focus, a neat remote control and the ability to beam things straight from iPhones thanks to AirPlay compatibility.
The only missing feature is improved 4K visuals (this device can only produce 1080p), and it does need a mains power, which makes it less portable.
“Projectors have long promised a cinematic experience, but often they’ve lacked the simplicity and intelligence consumers expect,” said Richard Halton, Country Manager, Roku UK. “With Roku TV Smart Projectors, we’re bringing the seamless streaming experience Roku users know and love to an exciting new form factor — making big-screen entertainment more accessible than ever.”
