Amid the cold conditions and gloomy days, many of us are dreaming of that sun-soaked getaway to book this year. There’s a catalogue of destinations offering blistering rays, including one that’s just four hours from the UK, making it the ideal escape to bask in a warmer climate.

Morocco, located on the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea in North Africa, has been named one of the most affordable places to visit in March, according to data from go2africa. The travel agent compared millions of hotel prices across various booking sites to reveal which destinations offered the most affordable getaways throughout the year.

They found that on average, a hotel in Morocco during March has a 20.70% reduction and costs around £78 per night. This compares to the 14.79% increase in July, with the average hotel price costing around £113 per night.

The desert-dominated country has become a popular destination among holidaymakers, with its stretches of golden sand beaches, luxurious resorts, and blistering sunshine. While visiting Morocco in March offers slightly cooler conditions than its peak season, visitors can still expect to bask in the welcoming temperatures of up to 22C.

This means that those looking to visit Morocco in March can enjoy cheaper flights and accommodation options, all while basking in some well-deserved sunshine. Flights from London to Morocco in March start from just £17, while flights from other UK airports, including Bristol, start from £21, according to Skyscanner.

There is a catalogue of all-inclusive resorts scattered along the idyllic coastline, including family-friendly options, many of which boast various restaurants, multiple pools, and fun-packed excursions to explore more of the country. One of the most popular areas to stay in Morocco is Agadir, located in the southwest.

The city offers unspoiled beaches, a promenade lined with bars and restaurants, and nearby areas to explore, such as the laid-back surfing village of Taghazout and the beautiful city of Essaouira. Another notable place to stay is the vibrant city of Marrakech, with bustling markets and colourful streets.

There’s plenty to explore, with highlights including the main square of Jemaa El Fna and the old walled town that surrounds it. Easyjet notes that visitors exploring the city will hear the sound of “snake charmers’ flutes”, pass stalls selling “everything from rugs and lanterns to pastries” and smell the aroma of rich tagine.

Elsewhere, visitors to Morocco can explore the Sahara Desert during a camel trek, marvel at the historical sites of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou and Volubilis, or explore the Ourika Valley surrounded by the Atlas Mountains. But with stretches of pristine coastline and crystal clear blue waters, a day spent at the beach or in a resort might be a more appealing idea.

Travel expert and mum, Jenna Carr, visited Morocco with her family and shared why it should be a destination to visit in 2026. In a blog on her website, she wrote in reference to the affordability: “The cost of living in Agadir. Morocco is lower than we are used to in the UK. With budget flights heading there, it is easy to bag a great value holiday. A lot of people ask if it is safe in Agadir, and we felt it was. The people were really friendly, welcoming and great with kids. It is a fantastic option for winter sun that people often don’t consider. With cheap flights, cheap hotels and lots to do once there, it is a perfect destination to consider for your next holiday.”
