Xbox finally introduces feature fans say is ’10 years late’ | Gaming | Entertainment
Xbox gamers are finally getting a feature that closes a gap on PlayStation owners. Fans are celebrating after the announcement that party chat and in-game audio will be recorded within native video captures.
For years, Xbox players have been unable to include the audio from chat with friends and other gamers in their video clips. Despite the ability to do this on PS4, PS5 and PC for years, Xbox refused to add the feature – until now. Starting with Xbox Insiders on the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring and rolling out to other players later this year, party chat capture is available now.
Each player in a party is able to opt in to the feature, meaning that if they donât want their audio captured, it wonât be. Fans on Reddit have expressed their joy at the move.
One wrote: âThis took so long. Very happy to see this update!!â Another said: âDamn we needed this 10 years ago.â
A third added: âWow! Great things being done finally.â The feature is among a host of new console updates announced yesterday (Wednesday, August 5).
Players will also be able to sort their achievements by completion percentage, gamerscore earned, total unlocked and alphabetically. This is in addition to the default âlast playedâ view.
Another feature allows Xbox gamers to restore old saves that have been synced with the cloud. This will only work with supported games, beginning with Forza Horizon 6.
It means players who want to recover a previous version of their save simply need to browse the available versions and restore it directly from their console. Further titles will be supported with this in the future.
One a feature rolling out immediately to all Xbox users – not just Insiders – is an improved wishlist. Now, gamers can add up to 1,000 games to their wishlists.
