The beautiful seaside town just named best in UK – full list of top 16 | UK | Travel
A UK seaside town has been crowned the best in the country and it’s set to be packed at the height of summer. The 16 best choices were shared just in time for summer. Brits will be looking to take advantage of the warm weather and there may not be a better way to do so than visiting one of these 16 spots.
The top spot selection is Saundersfoot in Pembrokeshire, selected for its quality food offerings. The area itself has been hailed as “one of the most gorgeous beaches of any British seaside resort.” Other choices included an East Sussex stop-off, an under-the-radar town, and an historic Northumberland site.
- Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire

The list, presented by TimeOut, noted Saundersfoot as the best beachfront in the country. They wrote: “In the height of summer, Saundersfoot’s compact parade of surf shops, bistros and pubs is constantly abuzz. Pick up traditional bakes from Mamgu’s Welshcakes, book a restorative session at Hwyl Outdoor Sauna, chomp on fresh seafood at Catch Beach Club and settle down for a bevvy and live music at the Royal Oak.
“I would also argue that Saundersfoot has one of the most gorgeous beaches of any British seaside resort. The blonde (Blue Flag-designated) stretch directly in front of the village is where most visitors hang, but a short stroll east brings you to the slightly quieter Coppet Hall Beach, framed by rock pools and tree-covered headlands.
“Oh, and in August this year, Pembrokeshire will host the 850th anniversary of the National Eisteddfod, so when you’re not bathing on the beach or mooching around the village centre, there’ll be dozens of live dance, music and Welsh-speaking events going on in the vicinity.”
Members of the public who had visited Saundersfoot hailed the area. In a review published to TripAdvisor, one delighted holidaymaker shared: “Lovely little harbour. We visited in the morning, plenty of parking but did get full very quickly.
“Good walk around the beach and harbour. Sat and had a coffee in one of the many cafes, pubs or even takeaway. A few small shops around to browse. Luckily the sun was shining which made our visit even better.”
Another added: “Been coming here for years, lovely beach, blue flag, there are areas either side for dogs too. Good soft sand with stunning views, ideal for everyone.”
