This seaside town has been named the “worst” in the UK, according to Which?, with some visitors describing it as “filthy,” “racist” and “deprived. 

Review company Which? spoke with over 3,000 visitors who rated the best and worst seaside towns in the UK. 

They rated more than 100 towns in the UK, ranking the beach, attractions, scenery, value for money and other factors. 

The seaside resort voted the worst was Clacton-on-Sea, while Skegness joined it in the bottom spot. 

The beaches of these towns managed to scrape an average rating of three out of five stars, but their dilapidated seafronts didn’t impress the visitors.

Skegness also had mostly positive reviews on Tripadvisor but some were not impressed, with one visitor calling it “dirty and run down”. 

Another said: “The most revolting beach we have ever seen. We can’t understand how people can leave the amount of rubbish, never mind so close to water. We will never return to this place.”

But it wasn’t all doom and gloom as some respondents did have positive things to say about Clacton’s “lovely” seafront gardens and its “fantastic” annual airshow.

Skegness was also commended for its “old-fashioned” charm, offering plenty of entertainment for children, from donkey rides on the beach to an aquarium and arcades.
