Samsung phone fans might want to pop Wednesday, July 22, in their diary. That’s the date when the Korean technology giant will unveil its next batch of devices, and they could be ones to watch out for. Although nothing has yet been confirmed, it seems almost certain that Samsung will unveil its batch of foldable devices at the event in London. This could include a refreshed Galaxy Z Flip phone and a new Galaxy Z Fold device, which are sure to get more power, better cameras, improved durability and smarter AI.

Despite plenty of upgrades on their way, that duo of devices might not be the stars of the show. Samsung is teasing that something new could be on its way that could change its foldable for good.

All of these point to Samsung releasing a new foldable that could look more like a passport. The big benefit of this design is that once opened, it will be far more like a tablet than the current square display on the Galaxy Z Fold.

That should make it far better for watching movies, playing games and multitasking.

There is another reason Samsung might be launching this device: to beat Apple.

It’s long been rumoured that the US technology company is planning to unleash its first ever foldable, and most rumours suggest that this bendy iPhone will get a similar passport-style shape.

Clearly, Samsung wants to be ahead of the game and have this design in stores long before Apple takes to the stage in Cupertino this September.
