Some Samsung phones are set to look massively inferior later this week, with the Korean technology company confirming that a bunch of new devices are on their way. The technology firm’s latest Unpacked showcase will get underway in London on July 22 and focus on its next-generation foldables. Although nothing has yet been confirmed, it seems almost certain that we will see new Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold phones revealed at the launch.

These are likely to get refreshed designs, more power under their hood, more pixel-packed cameras and smarter AI upgrades.

Another bonus of these phones is something called Flex Titanium technology. Samsung has already confirmed that these screens will be coming to the next generation of Galaxy foldable devices.

The company says it has built on seven generations of foldable innovation and engineering expertise, the redesigned display structure utilises structural and material advancements to deliver a more refined viewing experience with enhanced durability and reduced crease visibility.

“Samsung’s strength in the foldable category comes from connecting user needs with our technologies that deliver tangible benefits in everyday life,” said Sunghoon Moon, EVP and Senior Executive, Mobile R&D Office – H/W, Samsung Electronics.

“For the next generation of Galaxy foldables, Samsung is building on years of expertise to bring display innovations into devices that enhance user experiences, anchored by exceptional viewing experiences.”

It appears that owners of older foldable devices will soon have devices that look pretty inferior, but there’s another reason this upcoming event is worth watching.

“A New Shape Unfolds,” the firm said in an email sent to Express.co.uk. This follows a bunch of social media posts which showcased images of everyday products appearing shorter and wider.

All of these point to Samsung releasing a new foldable that could look more like a passport. The big benefit of this design is that once opened, it will be far more like a tablet than the current square display on the Galaxy Z Fold.

That should make it far better for watching movies, playing games and multitasking.
