Prince William found ordinary thing ‘eye-opening’ when meeting Kate’s family | Royal | News

Prince William reportedly found one very ordinary thing very “eye-opening” when he first spent time with Princess Catherine’s family, it has been reported. While William has always grown up in the royal world, with royal staff and privileges that many of us will never experience, this has not always been the case for his wife Catherine.

This is because Catherine grew up in a fairly ordinary household, with no staff and her parents doing most of the traditional family chores themselves. While the future Queen does now know what royal life is like, and has staff of her own, it is believed her family’s way of doing things initially surprised William in their dating days. This is because the future King was not used to informality.

She said she was told by the source: “William found the informality eye-opening.

“That the Middletons had to nip to the shop for food, ensure there was enough bread in the house, empty their own bins and put out the recycling on the right day were all refreshing.”

While William and Catherine have access to royal staff to do almost every household chore for them, it is believed The Prince and Princess of Wales do not fully utilise this.

According to the Daily Mail’s royal source: “He (William) has introduced a lot of relative informality into home life – notably there are fewer flunkeys wandering around [his and Kate’s homes].

“The cook is sometimes redundant as William or Kate often cook themselves.”

It is believed this won’t change when William one day becomes King, with the family also reportedly determined to stay at Forest Lodge rather than relocate to a bigger royal abode such as Windsor Castle or Buckingham Palace.
