Nintendo’s quirkiest new game now available as Switch demo | Gaming | Entertainment

Nintendo unveiled a sneak peek at a range of upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch 2 and its predecessor at the Nintendo Direct earlier this month. And now, the first title it showed off during that showcase is available for gamers to try before they buy.

The bizarre but brilliant looking Rhythm Paradise Groove launches on both Switch and Switch 2 on Thursday, July 2. The first game in the series to be released in over a decade, it’ll feature more than 80 minigames for players to enjoy solo or more than 30 with friends. The sequel to Nintendo’s 2015 game Rhythm Paradise Megamix on Nintendo 3DS, it is available as a demo on the Nintendo eShop now.

The demo was released on Monday, June 22 – roughly two weeks ahead of launch.

The first five solo games are available to try out, or gamers can practice their ‘tweezer timing’ with friends in multiplayer.

Interestingly, any progress made in the demo transfers to the full game.

Once it comes out next month, gamers can choose from a mixture of co-op or competitive games that seem very reminiscient to the GameCube cult classic WarioWare.

There’s also a “rhythm RPG” mode called ‘Beatspell’ and players can also practice drumming basics in a Drum Lessons mode.

Rhythm Paradise Groove is available for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop for £33.99.
