Despite one or two rumours to the contrary, the GTA 6 release date is still pencilled in for November 19, which means if everything goes to plan, then we know what we’ll be playing this Christmas. Still, with the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date closing in, it would be nice if developer Rockstar Games treated nervous fans to a new trailer, and let us actually pre-order the thing.

It looked like it was going to happen earlier this month, after a Best Buy email suggested pre-orders would go live on May 18. This would have almost certainly been accompanied by a new trailer, although sadly this wasn’t to be. Fortunately, Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two has shed some light on the plans for GTA 6, so keep reading to find out more.

GTA 6 Trailer 3 potential release date

In an interview with Vareity, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick announced that that the next wave of GTA 6 marketing will take place this summer.

“The next few weeks I don’t think it’ll be summertime yet, but when it’s summertime, Rockstar expects to start marketing GTA 6,” he said.

Summer begins as early as June 1 and as late as June 21 in the Northern Hemisphere, which means at the very earliest GTA 6 Trailer 3 could launch next week.

All eyes will be on the PlayStation State of Play event on June 2, which kicks off at 10pm BST for fans watching in the UK.

This will be followed by the Summer Games Fest event on Friday, June 5 at 10pm BST.

If the GTA 6 trailer doesn’t feature at either event, then expect a standalone announcement from Rockstar Games later in June.

GTA 6 pre-orders and price news

In terms of pre-orders, the game will almost certainly be available to pre-purchase after the release of Trailer 3.

This means you should be able to lay down some cash in June or early July.

More worrying is the potential GTA 6 price tag. While game consoles such as the Nintendo Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X have increased in price in recent months, software pricing has pretty much remained steady, barring a slight increase for Switch 2 games.

However, Bank of America securities stock analyst Omar Dessouky believes Rockstar Games should charge more for GTA 6.

Dessouky said: “We also heard from attendees that the industry, which is perceived as struggling, would have difficulty selling games for $80 if GTA 6 came out at $70. We think it’s in Take-Two’s self-interest, as a publisher and partner to many developers, to raise the price point for the entire industry.”

By the sounds of it, a higher price point for GTA 6 would open the floodgates for other publishers to charge more.
