Gatwick Airport £100 fine ‘if midnight deadline missed’ | Travel News | Travel

London Gatwick Airport has issued a reminder to passengers about the 14-day limit and it’s all to do with drop-off charge payments.

The airport states that motorists using the designated drop-off zones must pay the required fee by midnight the day after their visit. Those who fail to make payment within the deadline could face a fine.

It explains: “Failing to pay on time will result in a Parking Charge Notice of £100, which is reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days.

To avoid the fee, it says: “Payments should be made after you exit the drop-off zone in order for your vehicle to be recognised by the Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems and for the correct fee to be calculated for your drop-off session.

“AutoPay accounts should be set up before you enter the drop-off zone in order for your account to be debited.”

Drop-off charges

Gatwick Airport explains that passengers have until midnight the following day to pay the drop-off charge. These rates are as follows:

  • £10 for 10 minutes
  • £1 for each additional minute up to 20 minutes
  • There is a maximum daily charge of £30 and a maximum length of stay of 30 minutes

If you need to stay longer, it is recommended that you use the Short Stay car parks. Alternatively, you can park in the Long Stay car parks free of charge for up to two hours, with a complimentary shuttle bus service available to take you to the terminals.
