With the newly released CCTV footage of the suspects shared by police, let’s recap what we now know about the Brown University shootings.

A male suspect is thought to be the gunman behind the shootings at Brown University, who can be seen in CCTV footage being circulated by police. We know very little about the suspect so far – including an identity, motive or where he could be now – but police have said they believe he is a male aged in his 30s, and may have been wearing a camouflage mask on his face during or after the attack.

A huge security operation is now underway in the state of Rhode Island’s capital city of Providence, with police hitting the streets in droves in an effort to catch a gunman on the lam.

A ninth person has been added to the injury toll, however their ailments are understood to be far less severe than the eight people in critical care at Rhode Island Hospital.

Brown University remains on lockdown and students have been told to stay in their dorm rooms. Some surrounding neighbourhoods have also been placed into similar lockdown protocols, with residents fearing the alleged gunman may still be in the area. Residents have been told to stay inside by Providence Mayor Brett Smiley.

“Because we don’t have additional information to share at this time about the location of a shooter, we cannot more specifically define it than that. This is a scary time,” Smiley said at a news conference on Saturday night.
