‘All lines closed’ after incident at train station shuts down network | UK | News

A number of train services have been suspended tonight as emergency services respond to a serious incident at aMidlands railway station.

The train schedule has since been thrown into chaos, with journeys to Scotland, Wales, and numerous cities across England now running on hurried reschedules and delays while emergency services respond to an incident at Birmingham’s Northfield Railway Station.

Police were pictured at the station tonight as ‘all lines’ were suspended between Birmingham New Street and Kings Norton/Bromsgrove/Hereford and between Litchfield Trent Valley and Redditch.

CrossCountry trains between Edinburgh and Bristol Temple Meads, between Leeds and Plymouth, and also between Leicester and Cardiff Central are also affected.

It is not clear what has happened but there were reports of people visibly upset outside of the station.

A National Rail spokesman wrote on its website: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident in the Kings Norton area.

“So they can safely carry out their work, all lines are closed.

“Trains between Birmingham New Street and Droitwich Spa/Worcestershire Parkway may be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised.

“Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”

Road transport has been requested and will run all stations between Longbridge and Redditch and Longbridge and Bromsgrove. We estimate the road transport shuttle to commence within the hour.
