Eleven travel firms have collapsed into liquidation across recent months as the travel industry has suffered at the hands of conflict in the Middle East.

There has been flight chaos and staff have been made redundant due to the closures since the start of the year.

Holidays have been cancelled in several cases with customers been left seeking refunds or compensation.

In Oxfordshire, coach and passenger land transport services Oxfordshire Travel Limited based near Kidlington entered liquidation in October 2025.

The firm operated for a decade before liquidators were called in, as it was concluded the business as unable to continue trading or meet its debts.

Set Sail Cruises Ltd, also in Oxfordshire, was also dissolved on March 17, 2026. All planned sailings were cancelled as a result.

The agency was only two years old, being incorporated on February 4, 2024.

In the same county, The Padel Travel Club Limited also closed with roughly £41k of short‑term debts – any trips that had not yet commenced were cancelled.

The business was incorporated in February 2023 and has since been removed from the Companies House register following a voluntary strike‑off.

According to documents it is suggested that the company closed with short‑term debts of just over £40,000 and insufficient assets to repay its creditors in full, however a final liquidation statement is not available.

Several other travel companies have also seen the brunt of the suffering industry, with London-based Regen Central Ltd, an ATOL‑licensed travel agency selling flight‑and‑hotel packages to Europe and Southeast Asia, losing its ATOL on January 13.

Following this it fell into liquidation and cancelled all bookings.

Another travel company, known for selling “dream holidays”, including trips to Disney world, Simply Florida Travel Ltd based in Glasgow was removed as an ATOL holder after dissolving in early January.

Holidaymakers were left seeking refunds as all packages and flights were cancelled as a result.

Gold Crest Holidays, coach-tour operators in the UK and overseas also collapsed and ceased trading in early 2026.

Following the liquidation all staff were made redundant.

Many other travel companies have also stoped trading or dissolved since 2025. Among them are Asiara UK Ltd, Jetline Travel Ltd, Great Little Escapes LLP and New Era Travel.

Most recently, Strachan Travel Ltd, based in Lancashire, incorporated in 1983, entered voluntary liquidation.

Resolutions for winding up were documented on June 11 and liquidators were appointed on June 16, according to The Gazette.

The closure of several companies comes at a time when travel has been uncertain due to warnings issued by government and airlines due to the war in the Middle East.

As an agreement has been signed, several travel restrictions have been lifted, therefore creating hope for the industry.
