Wimbledon star trolls opponent after 13-minute toilet break mid-match | Tennis | Sport
Belinda Bencic has poked fun at how Elsa Jacquemot took an extremely long toilet break during their Wimbledon clash. Despite the delay, the Swiss star went on to secure a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory and book her spot in the third round.
The 28-year-old struggled to find her rhythm in the opening set before bouncing back in style to level the tie. Bencic then found herself 0-2 down in the final decisive set but held her nerve and went on to rack up six consecutive games and set up a clash with world No. 116 Elisabetta Cocciaretto on Saturday.
Bencic will certainly be pleased with her performance and how she was able to perform when the pressure was truly on, having enjoyed a comfortable first round win over the attacking-minded Ashley Parks earlier this week.
Though there was also a key difference between her first and second round wins. Jacquemot took a 13-minute long toilet break after the second set, which piled even further pressure on the third set. However, Bencic managed to take the break in her stride and laughed off the delay on social media afterwards.

On Thursday evening, the world No. 35 posted a series of iconic images of Mr Bean with her face pasted on top of his. The selection of pictures saw him waiting at the side of a road, checking his watch, twiddling with some grass to pass the time and lying flat on his back.
The images all underlined how long Bencic was made to wait, and she hit home the point with a cropped picture of the Wimbledon timer saying: βTime since last point: 13.16.β
With the win now under her belt, the Swiss star wonβt have felt that the delay hindered her chances and she can now focus on her clash this weekend. With so many big-name stars suffering early defeats at SW19, this yearβs competition has presented Bencic with the chance to reach uncharted territory.
She has reached the last 16 at Wimbledon on three occasions previously, but never managed to make the final eight β and she can take plenty of confidence from how some of the top seeds have already been eliminated.
