Tom Cruise leaves fans panicked with cryptic Mission Impossible statem | Films | Entertainment

Mission Impossible fans have been left panicked since Tom Cruise’s recent statement at Cannes Film Festival.

When questioned about Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning being the last part of the series, the star has remained coy throughout the entirety of the press tour, simply answering that it is the “culmination of the franchise”.

At Cannes Film Festival, when speaking to Variety alongside director Christopher McQuarrie, Cruise was continued to be tight-lipped about the end of the franchise.

When being asked about this being the last film in the series, he said: “I’d rather just people see it and enjoy, and we’ve had an amazing time doing it and it’s been a lot of fun and I just want you all to enjoy it.”

He added a rather crytic note, stating: “Enjoy this and know everything is the culmination, [the series] has come to this moment right now.”

The franchise has seen cameos from Hannah Waddingham, Tramell Tillman, Nick Offerman, Holt McCallany, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis and Janet McTeer, throughout its time.

Despite the films’ success, with it’s financial peak with Mission Impossible: Fallout’s $791 million box office, Dead Reckoning: Part One saw a slight drop off.

That being said, Final Reckoning would likely need to perform extremely well to make up for this if you believe the logic that to make a Hollywood blockbuster you must make double the budget it cost to make it.

This could mean that the Mission Impossible series has seen its golden days and it may be time to call it quits.

Alongside that, Cruise achieved massive success with his Top Gun: Maverick sequel making $1.5 billion at the box office and has also been lined up for a more dramatic role in Alejandro G. Iñárritu upcoming production.

With his eyes looking elsewhere, Cruise is more than likely hanging up his role as Ethan Hunt for the time being, but never say never.
