The secluded UK beach so hidden you won’t find it on Google Maps | UK | Travel

Nestled next to Howick, a village often touted as one of Northumberland’s hidden gems, Rumbling Kern is a lesser-known beach that can be quite tricky to locate. It’s so hidden it doesn’t even appear on Google Maps.

The beach gets its name from a hole in the rocks that emits a loud rumbling sound when waves crash through it at high tide, reports Chronicle Live. Another notable feature of this beach is an ancient bathing house built for Earl Grey and his family, including his 16 children. The beach may not be recognised by Google, but you can use the postcode NE66 3LH to get as close as possible.

This will lead you to a nearby farm where you can park before walking the rest of the way to the beach.

Despite not being widely written about, Rumbling Kern has caught the attention of travel enthusiasts.

The Crave Traveler has dubbed it ‘England’s best kept secret’ and highlighted its potential as a fantastic spot to watch the sunrise, explore or simply relax with a picnic.

“If you weren’t looking for it… you wouldn’t find it,” the blog noted.

Visit Northumberland describes Rumbling Kern, as ‘a closely guarded secret amongst Northumberland coast connoisseurs’ and ‘perfect for a quiet afternoon’.

Visitors who have ventured off the well-trodden path have also shared their experiences, with one Tripadvisor user swiftly praising the ‘amazing scenery’ that Rumbling Kern boasts.
