First to speak Joe Root, who joins via video link from New Zealand, where England’s cricket team have been on tour.

Playing on the tour: “It’s been great fun, playing in a team where you get on so well with each other. It’s really special and to be able to contribute towards that is really pleasing.

“This year, it seems to getmore enioyable as well. It feels like a really nice place to be. And to go past Cooky [Alastair Cook], a team-mate of mine, a mentor a friend, was nice as well. I got a call off him, congratulating me too.”

On his team-mates: “We do spend a lot of time together, it’s a big part of what brings our success and we need to make sure we get the best out of each other and look each other. I’m very fortunate to play in this team.”

On his Christmas plans: “It’s been a great tour, but I’m very much looking forward to getting home and seeing my family.”
