Prince Harry dealt huge blow as poll shows popularity in America compared to William | Royal | News

Despite being the only British royal living in America, Prince Harry is still less popular than his brother William. According to a YouGov poll commissioned by the Times, the future King is the most popular living member of the Royal Family stateside with a 63% positivity rating and just 10% negative.

Princess Diana topped the poll as the most popular member of the Royal Family, nearly thirty years after her death, whilst the late Queen Elizabeth was second, ahead of William and Harry. The people’s princess was viewed favourably by a staggering 79% of those asked, while the late monarch was viewed in a positive light by 73%. Prince Harry was the most well-known Royal among Americans, with 77% saying they were either “very” or “somewhat” familiar with him.

But despite this Harry was deemed to be only the fourth most popular member of the family, with 56% of those asked having a “very” or “fairly” positive view of him and 21% having a “fairly” or “very” negative opinion.

Both the Princess of Wales and the King were more popular among those polled that American Meghan Markle who was ranked as the seventh most popular Royal, narrowly beating Princess Anne, who was the least well-known Royal amongst those questioned.

YouGov, which polled almost 1,300 adults in the US also sought the views on Harry and Meghan’s decision to move to the United States which found that 42 per cent approved of the couple’s relocation to California, with only 19% having a negative opinion of the decision.

A total of 61% of people said that they believed Harry and Meghan had not changed since their move to the US, but 17% admitted that their opinion of the couple had changed negatively.

Unsurprisingly, Prince Andrew was the least popular Royal with just 26% having a positive opinion, despite the ostracised brother of the King being fairly well-known in the country.

More surprising is perhaps the view of Americans towards Queen Camilla, who was also thought of positively by 26% of people, with a larger portion not knowing her compared to Andrew.

Despite their love of monarchy, only 3% of those asked believed that the United States should have a King or Queen, with 65% thinking that a United States monarchy would be a bad thing.
