I visited all 54 countries in Africa and this is my least favourite | Travel News | Travel

travel vlogger who has had the pleasure of visiting all 197 countries, including all 54 of those in Africa, has ranked his favourite places on the continent – including his least favourite.  Drew Binsky, a  YouTube star, has documented every step of his travels along the way, and viewers watched along as he made his way around the entirety of the African continent.

After exploring the likes of Kenya, Zambia, Algeria, Libya and tens more, Binsky ranked each place, with Tanzania coming out on top as his favourite. He has visited the place four times throughout his life and, in his own words, “cannot get enough of this place”, as it is a “huge country” with so much to offer.

The sheer amount of wildlife, national parks, zebras and wildebeests all made Tanzania his favourite African destination;he even suggests, “If you can only visit one country in Africa, let it be Tanzania.”

Although finding its way at the very bottom of his Africa list was Chad, which he described as his “least favourite country on the continent”. Explaining further, he said: “It’s all dirt roads; it’s so dusty you can’t even breathe… People are very hostile; they don’t like foreigners. I just really didn’t get good vibes at all from Chad.”

The bad experiences Binsky had were mostly in and around the largest and capital city of N’Djamena, a place that, along with the rest of the country, the UK Government website deems “highly likely” to experience terrorist attacks.

In another video, the vlogger detailed a dangerous driving incident as well as a time when a knife was pulled out on him, and these collective experiences didn’t help with his impression of the people of Chad.

He said: “It’s not just that that happened; it’s just the people were very rude and disrespectful, and I just didn’t get any good feeling from the country of Chad. I hated it so much that I left early. I left after a day.”

Not far from the bottom, as his second least favourite, ranked at number 53, is Sierra Leone, a country in the west of Africa, where his journey began with a tourist scam. Also ranking low in the last 10 countries were Guinea-Bissau, Cameroon, the Central African Republic and Gabon.

The travel vlogger speaks highly of the country as a whole and tells viewers from the get-go that the list will “surprise” people. He describes Africa as “fascinating”, from the hundreds of pyramids to the animals, the cheap nights’ sleep he got, the crazy experiences and even the scary times with scammers. “It might make you even book a flight out here to experience the adrenaline rush for yourself,” Binsky claimed.

In contrast to Chad, there are so many great things he has to say about Tanzania, his number one African spot, for its vast amount of unique cultures and experiences tied into one place. Ngorongoro Crater is just one of them, as a protected conservation area of beautiful landscape, that sees hundreds of thousands of tourists visit year on year.

“Of course you have Mount Kilimanjaro,” Binsky added. “Which is the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. You have the Zanzibar, which has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.”  But his favourite place in the country was Arusha, a city not in the East of Africa providing some fo the best safari getaways.
