‘I ate at the restaurant from Emily in Paris’ | Europe | Travel
One American expat has truly been living the Emily in Paris lifestyle, and now she’s even tried dining at the restaurant seen in the show, where Emily’s on-off boyfriend Gabriel works.
Like the character Emily in the Netflix show, Sage VanAlstine is currently living in Paris, and works in social media marketing, quipping that she often gets compared to the character.
Taking to Instagram, Sage shared that she recently paid a visit to the Terra Neva restaurant, which shot to global fame when it was used as a filming location for the show.
Starting her video, Sage said: “If you’ve seen Emily in Paris, you know exactly how important this restaurant is, and I’m actually a real American living in Paris and working in social media marketing.
“I’ve lived here for over two years and get Emily in Paris all the time, but I’ve never tried Gabriel’s restaurant, until tonight.”
Sage and a friend booked a table at Terra Neva for 9pm, adding that when they arrived there were “tons of people at the restaurant taking photos and videos and inside the restaurant it was definitely mostly Americans and tourists.”
Unlike in the TV show, the real restaurant actually serves Italian food, with Sage opting for a Caprese salad, followed by an aubergine and tomato pasta drink, which they ate alongside a kir royale.
Sharing her verdict on the food, the social media influencer said: “All of the food was pretty good, it’s definitely not the best food I’ve ever had, but I definitely enjoyed the meal. It was a little bit pricier, for an appetizer, both our pastas and the kir royale it was €70.”
Others who have visited the restaurant have also shared rave reviews, with on TripAdvisor user writing: “Wow! Amazing spot! The food was to die for! Super fresh, super tasty… A must go! If you like Emily in Paris, this is chef Gabriel’s place which is an added plus!”
Another said: “We went because my cousin wanted to see the restaurant where Emily in Paris was filmed. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food.
“This is authentic Italian food. We met the owner Valerio. He inspects every plate that comes out of this kitchen. He pays attention to every detail. I was impressed. Definitely recommended.”
And a third said: “The food was really good and the place was nice. They even had a big bottle of sparkling water to share.
“The waitress wasn’t super friendly at first, but I get it – they probably deal with lots of tourists taking pictures because of ‘Emily in Paris.’ On the bright side, the owner was really cool and welcoming, which was a nice surprise.”
