Astro Bot Winter Wonder release date, UK release time and how to play free DLC | Gaming | Entertainment

Sony has announced plans to release a brand new Christmas-themed stage for Astro Bot on PS5 and PS5 Pro.

Developer Team Asobi has confirmed that the new level, titled Winter Wonder, will have a December 12 release date and a 6pm PT launch time for fans living in the US.

Unfortunately for UK fans, this means you won’t actually be able to download and play the new stage until 2am GMT on December 13.

Considering the timing of the release, expect a preview of the Winter Wonder stage during The Game Awards.

While it’s a late night for UK fans looking to play the new level, the good news is that Winter Wonder is available completely free of charge.

You can access the free DLC once you have completed the main campaign.

Unlike the recently released speedrun levels, Sony has told fans to expect a much more relaxed experience with Winter Wonder. Sadly, this also means that it won’t pose too much of challenge.

The free stage will instead revolve around opening presents and discovering even more bots to rescue.

Sony explains more: “Since we want it to remain a little surprise, we will not say too much, but you should expect a fun-filled level with shiny presents, a good dose of jingle bells, and brand-new special bots to add to your crew!”

“This winter update was made with every user in mind, meaning it is a celebration enjoyable for children and adults alike.

“So, no hair-pulling challenge this time! We had a lot of fun making this special present for you all, and we hope you enjoy it very much, too.”

Astro Bot is nominated in seven categories at The Game Awards, including Game of the Year.

Astro Bot is tied with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for the most awards, followed by Metaphor: ReFantazio with six, and Balatro with five. Silent Hill 2 is also nominated in five different categories, although not for Game of the Year.
