A savvy traveller has revealed how he managed to jet off to Morocco in North Africa for a “luxury” spa day – and it cost him considerably less than a visit to his local spa back in the UK. Rob Adcock, who posts on TikTok @robdidatiktok, shared a video of his spa getaway online, leaving viewers stunned at the remarkable bargain he had uncovered. Rob loves visiting his local spa, but found the cost of treatments increasingly steep.

So, he set himself a challenge to book a flight abroad and enjoy a spa day for less than it would cost him back home in Staffordshire. Speaking to the Daily Star, Rob said: “My friend and I have been visiting our local spa for the last few years. It started a few years ago when we both had a lot on with work, and we needed a break – and rather than buy each other a present for Christmas, we just treated each other to a spa day and loved it.

He continued: “So the tradition started from there. But when we came to book this time, our local one wanted £230 for a day of treatments. That seemed like a lot of money, so I got to work.” As an added bonus, by flying to Morocco, Rob also got to bask in 28°C sunshine during his spa visit.

Rob outlined how he secured such affordable flights and why Morocco caught his eye. He noted: “I went to find flights on Skyscanner – they do this thing where you can put ‘everywhere’ and they suggest places to go.

“So then I found the cheapest flights and looked for the best spa in that area. Turns out there were some cheap flights available to Agadir and et voila.

“A new place had opened up called The View and it’s out of this world. It had only opened the day before! So it was really quiet. But as you can see in the video – it’s unreal.

“I just found it out of the blue. We were due to go to another spa but stayed here the night before and because it only opened officially the day before we arrived, it was next level.”

While his local spa would have charged £230 for the treatments he had in mind, Rob managed to secure the trip to North Africa for a remarkable bargain.

He explained: “To get there, to stay overnight, to have the treatments and to park at Manchester airport (using YourParkingSpace) cost £190.

“And when you compare it to the local one – we got an overnight stay in Agadir – whereas the local deal was just a day of facilities! So it’s a better deal and it’s cheaper. So we actually saved £40 by flying to Africa.”

The hotel set Rob back £92 each per night, while the return flights came to just £31. He also spent £3.14 on the bus and £58.92 on the spa. The seasoned traveller noted that flights can be snapped up even more cheaply from as little as £14.99.

Having thoroughly enjoyed his budget spa break, Rob insists he would choose to fly rather than stay local every time.

He said: “This is in no way me having a go at my local spa. It’s great. And I’m acutely aware of how expensive England is – we have a few holiday lets and everything is expensive so I know why they have to charge that amount – but it just shows you that value is available if you think outside the box.

“I would 100% do it again. I’m already looking at booking up. When you see the quality of the hotel and spa and the deals floating around to fly there – you’d be daft not to consider it (if you can). The weather was amazing and the people could not have been sounder.”

In the comments beneath his video, Rob’s followers shared their own experiences – with several revealing they too had travelled abroad for a spa break. One woman commented: “I went to Therme in Romania. Airport parking, flights hotel and all day access. £132 each.”

While another chimed in: “Fly to Slovenia! I’m not sure what a day pass cost, but a three hour pass was 50€ (thermal spa) it was DIVINE!”. Rob’s top tips for cheap travel:

  • “Shop around. Be flexible. My routine is use the everywhere feature on Skyscanner you’re looking for inspiration. We had thought of Morocco until we saw the price.”
  • “Then once I’ve settled on the destination, go to sites like booking.com and I always rank via reviews. Then I can usually work out (when crossed referenced with Tripadvisor) where is good.”
  • “Then I’ll jump on Quidco and get the Cashback. And if you use hotels.com, it’s good because you get the cashback for booking but also after you’ve booked 10 stays, you get one night free.”
