Best theme park in UK named — not Alton Towers or Drayton Manor | Travel News | Travel

The May half-term break is a week away, and if you’re on the hunt for exciting ways to keep the kids busy, then a theme park is a great choice. The UK has plenty of spots to choose from, dotted across the country.

In order to find the best of the best, outdoor play specialists outdoortoys have analysed the entry fees, number of rides, hotel prices and TripAdvisor ratings to find out which theme park is the best for kids. Surprisingly, it’s not Alton Towers or Drayton Manor in the top spot. Paultons Park has crept into first place with a rating of 6.85 out of 10.

The theme park is located in the New Forest National Park, and is also known as the home of Peppa Pig World. Paulton’s Park has 38 rides to choose from as well as 12 food outlets – perfect for hungry kids. It also has an impressive 71% of ‘excellent’ ratings on TripAdvisor. However, the park is the most expensive, with a child admission ticket costing £46.75.

In joint second place for 2026 are Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Drayton Manor, both scoring 6.48 out of 10. Blackpool is one of the most iconic seaside attractions in the UK, with 32 rides, 14 food outlets and plenty more to explore in the surrounding area.

Drayton Manor has the highest ride count in the rating, with a whopping 47 rides to choose from, as well as affordable ticket prices at £29.50.

In fourth place is Alton Towers, scoring 6.11 out of 10. The Staffordshire theme park has 40 rides and 12 food outlets and is widely known for its world-famous roller coasters.

If it’s free entry you’re after, only one park in the study offered it. For free admission, head along to Playland Fun Park in Worcestershire. This park has mini golf and rides, making for a great day out.
