Gerwyn Price has claimed that his form has suffered as a result of his latest business venture away from darts.
He recently closed down his cafe in Markham and opened a chippy, something he believes has impacted his game.
“That’s probably part and parcel of why I was losing and playing rubbish in some games, because my mind was elsewhere,” said Price.
“I’m glad that it’s up and running and in the back of my mind now, rather than worrying about it all the time because it did become a distraction.
“The cafe went downhill and is now being leased out as a dog grooming salon, believe it or not, but Chippy 501 is doing well.
“My aunt makes the best home-made rissoles, which are very popular. It wasn’t just about opening it.
“I’ve got cameras in the shop and I was always checking them on my phone, wondering if people are doing the right thing, getting messages all the time, good feedback and bad feedback.
“Being sat at home during the Grand Slam gave me a kick up the a*** because I need to play.”
