Style expert reveals what Meghan’s fashion U-turn says about her | Royal | News
Meghan Markle has frequently been seen sporting elegant strapless dresses to various star-studded events in recent months – a style which she is known to have loved in her pre-royal days.
The 43-year-old, who previously held a successful career as an actress in the US drama Suits, is no stranger to a red carpet and has been seen returning to her roots in recent months.
Most recently, Meghan appeared at the 2024 Paley Honors Fall Gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. As she took to the red carper, in an appearance that saw her support her friend Tyler perry, the mother of two stunned in a beautiful black strapless Oscar de la Renta gown. The stunning gown is reported to be worth at least £4,850.
This appearance came just weeks after another solo outing to the Highbrow Hippie Launch Party. Again, at this event, Meghan sported another strapless look. Smiling for pictures at the event, Meghan can be seen wearing a £660 black top and trouser combo. The top, which boasted a sweetheart neckline, is from New York brand Khaite.
Discussing her most-recent fashion U-turn, Kelly Caira, a stylist at House of Colour, believes that the choice conveys confidence – as well as showcasing her best asset.
Speaking to MailOnline, Kelly said: “Meghan is blessed with a slender shape and beautiful shoulders and arms, which are given absolute focus in a strapless outfit.”
She continues: “She has hit upon a fabulous formula with the strapless style. There is cohesion with her latest choices that show inner confidence while revealing her soft femininity.”
Discussing Meghan’s style, she added: “There is something wonderful about seeing someone in the public eye who has been much criticised really honing her style and taking control of her public image.
“In a harsh world where everyone is quick to criticise, Meghan lets her confidence shine through with the simplicity of the silhouette and lack of adornment. She is enough!”
As well as sporting the strapless look during her days in the acting field, Meghan’s love of the style dates back to her high school days. Attending her prom in 1998, Meghan wore a pastel blue gown when she was crowned ‘Homecoming Queen’.
Meghan’s decision to bring back her much-loved style undoubtedly reflects her newfound freedom since stepping away from royal duties in 2020.
The royal also sported a strapless look at the 2022 Ripple of Hope Gala, the 2023 Ms Foundation Women of Vision awards and during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s trip to Nigeria earlier this year.
