Nearly one million people are missing out on a major benefit they’re eligible for, which could provide a host of additional perks, including a free TV licence. Pension Credit, a benefit provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), is currently unclaimed by 910,000 families who are entitled to it, according to recent DWP data.
On average, couples can receive up to £346.69 per week. To qualify for Guarantee Pension Credit, you must have reached State Pension age (66) and your weekly income must be less than the minimum amount the UK Government deems necessary for living.
If you’re a carer, disabled, or have specific housing costs, you might qualify for more than the standard amount. Savings Credit can provide up to a certain sum, with the exact amount depending on your income and savings, including assumed income from savings and capital over £10,000.
If you make a successful claim for Pension Credit, you could get a wide variety of extra help.
