Vladimir Putin breaks silence on Ukraine peace talks and Trump call | World | News
Vladimir Putin has claimed Russia is prepared to return to the negotiating table over the war in Ukraine, adding a resolution is the priority for his country.
The Russian President said the aim of talks with US officials on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia was to increase trust.
He also insisted the US delegation acted without bias or judgement.
Putin also pushed for a meeting with his US counterpart, saying: âI would like to have a meeting, but it needs to be prepared so that it brings results”. He added that he would be âpleasedâ to meet Mr Trump.
He hailed the talks between senior Russian and US officials in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday, noting that the parties agreed to restore the tattered diplomatic relations.
Putin aso said that Mr Trump has acknowledged that the Ukrainian settlement could take longer than he had initially hoped.
