German police reported that a suspect has been wounded by gunfire following a stabbing incident at a school in Essen.

The knifeman was shot during a gunfire and is now receiving medical care, police said. 

The individual, who attacked a teacher at a vocational college he reportedly attended, was shot during arrest procedures and is currently receiving medical treatment, authorities confirmed via social media. Police had been searching for the suspect after the stabbing occurred.

According to German media reports, it remains uncertain whether additional victims were injured during the incident.
