Diana’s wedding dress first fitted in underground vault you can visit for free | Music | Entertainment

Back in 1981 Princess Diana had to be fitted in secret for her wedding dress, one of the world’s most famous pieces of clothing.

The 19-year-old bride-to-be had personally selected designers David and Elizabeth Emanuel to create the gown featuring 10,000 pearls and a 25 foot train.

Heading undercover to Old Park Lane to the lower levels of an old Coutts bank once used to protect Queen Elizabeth’s coffers, this is supposedly where the fiancée of the future King first tried on the dress undisturbed.

Further fittings for the gown proved difficult as Princess Diana had developed bulimia and dropped from a size 14 to 10 in the months running up to wedding, before final adjustments were made at Buckingham Palace ahead of the big day.

Today the underground spot is beneath the original Hard Rock Cafe’s Rock Shop and is free to visit as part of the Vault tour.
