Arsenal may have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres.

Sporting are planning to replace the Swedish international with Almeria star Luis Suarez, and they risk missing out on the striker if they do not act quickly.

Almeria president Joao Goncalves has now threatened to sell Suarez to another club, which could set off alarm bells at Sporting – who may need to accelerate talks with Gyokeres to ensure they do not risk missing out on one of their key targets.

Goncalves told CNN Portugal: “Luis has had his best season, he’s in the best moment of his career. 31 goals is a number any forward wants to achieve.

“We haven’t had any official contact with Sporting to date. We haven’t received any formal or informal contact, but we have with other clubs, and we’re moving forward with negotiations with other clubs. We’re managing our timing.”
