Forget Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the Steam Summer Sale is the biggest discount event of the year if you’re a gamer looking to grab some bargains. The current Steam Summer Sale is almost at an end, so if you want to pick up some cheap games then you’ll need to act fast before it’s too late.
I’ve been looking through some of the games on offer, and noticed that a huge chunk of last year’s biggest and best games have been discounted as part of the sale. Indeed, if you look at the top ten PC games based on Metacritic scores for 2025, you’ll notice that nine of the games have been slashed in price.
Hades 2 is the highest-rated PC game according to Metacritic, earning a score of 94% after launching in full last year.
The action-packed rogue-like is reduced by 30%, costing just £17.49 until the sale ends on July 9.
The third highest rated game of 2025 is Blue Prince, which is reduced to just £13.49 as part of the sale. That’s a saving of 40% for one of the most inventive games I’ve ever played.
The aim of Blue Prince is to make it to the secret room of an ever-changing mansion that resets every day.
You’ll need to place rooms and not get boxed in, all the while solving puzzles and earning upgrades to make the next run more manageable.
Despite winning countless game of the year awards, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is fourth on the list with a score of 91%.
Featuring an interactive turn-based battle system, the surreal RPG is down to £33.59, although you can potentially save even more as part of a bundle.
With a score of 90%, Hollow Knight Silksong is also discounted, despite already boasting a reasonable price tag.
The atmospheric Metroidvania is down to just £12.56, which is an absolute bargain if you haven’t already picked it up.
Split Fiction is the sixth highest rated PC game of 2025, and has been given a 35% discount, which takes the price down to £25.99.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered and Trails in the Sky First Chapter occupy the seventh, eighth and ninth position, and have also received discounts.
FF7 Rebirth is surprisingly cheap at just £15.99, while The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered costs £31.99, and Trails in the Sky First Chapter is reduced to £27.49. Finally, tenth placed Rhythm Doctor is down to £13.40.
The only game not discounted from the top ten is second placed Sektori. With a Metacritic score of 93%, the twin-sticked shooter costs £12.79.
As a reminder, the Steam Summer Sale ends at 6pm BST UK time on July 9.
